Through A Broken Pane
Through A Broken Pane
This piece represents the profound heartache that inevitably accompanies the feeling of missing a beloved one so very much, yet you find yourself unable to embrace them often. The text draws inspiration from the image of a delicate flower that sits silently and still in a dimly lit room, where it constantly struggles to reach out for the life-giving warmth of the sun. Only a sliver of light manages to shine through a broken pane of a window, where the sun also makes its valiant attempt to provide comfort and reassurance for the delicate flower, nurturing it as it strives to bloom to its fullest potential. This cycle of longing and desire repeats daily, serving only to remind both the flower and the sun of the bittersweet pains of hope and heartache they each endure.

Through a broken pane a pin of light
Light that aches for embrace
A drapery of wavy distance shades a flower
Its pedals left yearning for grace
But only a young lost flower struggling to bloom
Reaching for her hand
I’ll nurture you through and though
(Her nurture not forgotten)
But a drapery of wavy distance brings night too soon
Darkness!
Light!
The lights time gone by
The flower’s left behind
Yet their aching will meet again
Her nurture not forgotten
Through a broken pane
Light
