Steven was born in the vibrant city of Pomona, California, in the year 1993 to a humble, hardworking Latino family facing financial challenges. From infancy, he was raised by his loving grandmother, who played a pivotal role in his early development and upbringing. For the first 10 years of his childhood, he lived in bustling Los Angeles County, surrounded by the rich cultural diversity and vibrant community that the area is known for.

His exposure to his culturally rich and diverse surrounding family, friends, and community, combined with his own personal struggles and unique life experiences, ultimately led him to develop a profound and lasting interest in music. He began learning the violin at the young age of 8, and soon thereafter, grew increasingly eager to expand his musical capabiltes by also learning the cello and piano. This dedication to music ultimately nurtured his deep desire to create and compose his own original music, allowing him to explore his artistic expression in new and exciting ways.

He then moved to San Bernardino County, where he diligently finished his K-12 education at Henry J. Kaiser High School—a school renowned across the county for its rigorous academic environment and exceptionally disciplined, award-winning music and arts programs. His time at KHS was vital in shaping his artistic abilities and dedication to the performing and musical arts. Some of his notable achievements include serving as the assistant principal violinist and holding the position of principal cellist in the school’s esteemed orchestra. He received recognized superior ratings in both local and non-local solo ensemble events, showcasing his exceptional talent. Additionally, he earned admission into the San Bernardino County Honor Orchestra as the 4th chair, and was also accepted into the school's madrigal choir, which further exemplifies his musical capabilities.

For fun, Steven enjoyed participating in the school’s theater program. He had the opportunity to perform a multitude of roles during his highschool career. When he did not perform, he contributed to the company by applying his ROP Stagecraft certification to assist in building sets and performing stagecrew roles.

After graduating, Steven made the significant decision to relocate to Washington State, where he diligently earned his Bachelors Degree in Music Composition from Pacific Lutheran University located in Parkland, WA. During his time at this institution, he continued to develop his musical expertise and refine his skills to a high degree. He was proudly accepted into their esteemed School of Music, Theater & Dance, and ultimately graduated with honors (cum laude) in 2018. It was at PLU that he deeply fostered his desire to compose for the captivating realm of musical theater, though his passion for composition does not deter him from creating works for other types of ensembles, as this remains a strong aspiration of his.

Steven is currently married and happily living in the vibrant local Tacoma area with his two dogs, where he continues to strive for numerous opportunities to perform, compose, lead, and teach alongside talented local artists and musicians. He also has plans to return to university in the near future to pursue his Masters degree in music.
